Petroff Matte Boxes

The latest generation of the R.D. Petroff matte box is the most versatile system of its kind available on the market today. There are three basic sizes to choose from to match lenses of any format from Mini DV to Broadcast HD and Motion Picture. The system can be used in a variety of ways such as a sophisticated sunshade to a multistage filter holder with each stage rotating independently.

Petroff matte box comes in three different sizes 4″x4″, 4″x5″ and 5″x5″. The numbers 4″x4″, 4″x5″ and 5″x5″ represent the size of the filter that will fit fully in the circumference of the matte box body.

The standard system accommodates three filter stages. If needed it could be furnished for four or more stages.
All filter stages rotate 360 degrees independently, but in order to operate comfortable with polarizing filters one or two stages could be blocked from rotation.
